The 2022 geopolitical shocks have revealed risks to the sustainability of sovereign economies’ development and efficiency, associated with access to transportation services and infrastructure. The security of the supply chains, the diversification of the freight transportation geography, the efficiency of industrial cooperation are largely determined by the work of logistics operators, the availability of means of transport and related supporting services.
One of the required guarantees to achieve the sustainability of the accelerated growth of the economies of the Global South countries is the constant and expanding availability of logistics for trade and cooperation, infrastructure funds for international transport corridors, and the development of Russian facilities and resources. Making international transport alliances between national carriers to ensure transport security in the Global South countries is one of the options.
The foundation of the BRICS countries’ “transport alliance” seems to be one of these potential projects, ensuring synchronization of approaches to the formation of public transport and foreign trade policy, coordinating the mutually beneficial integration of transport systems, and involving transport service players in the establishment of strong international industry alliances supported by new joint institutions for insuring, financing and producing the necessary international means of transport.
