Cooperation Between Russia and the Countries of the Middle East is Becoming Increasingly Relevant

Economic cooperation between Russia and the countries of the Middle East has become more intense in recent years, particularly in the non-resource non-energy sector, stated Najibullo Jabbori, a representative of the Russian Export Center (VEB.RF) in the United Arab Emirates, at the "Made in Russia" forum.

"In recent years, the relevance and demand for cooperation between Russia and the largest economies of the Middle East have been increasing, expanding the geography of exports. In particular, new areas of cooperation are developing with partners such as the UAE, Turkey, Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and others. The most promising joint projects are in sectors such as the agro-industrial complex, high technologies, the forestry industry, the chemical sector, IT, creative industries, and others," he said during the session titled "Russia – The Greater Middle East: Rivalry or Cooperation?"

He added that Middle Eastern countries are striving to diversify their economies and develop non-oil sectors. This creates broad opportunities for cooperation and trade with third countries in the Greater Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia.

"Russia, with significant potential in science and technology, can offer its developments and solutions, including artificial intelligence, blockchain, and other innovations. Given the growing interest in digitalization, the development of startup ecosystems, and creative projects in these regions, countries are seeking opportunities for partnership, experience exchange, and joint production of high technologies," emphasized Najibullo Jabbori.

Speakers addressed projects and initiatives, as well as obstacles faced by Russian companies when entering Middle Eastern markets and how to overcome them. The session included contributions from Vladimir Mikhailovich Platonov, president of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Said Nikpur, advisor to the vice president of Iran for science and technology in IT technologies and creative industries; Ahmed Azimov, advisor to the chairman of the board of directors for international development at the “Delo” Group; Abbas Mirzaei Ghazi, representative of the "Russian-Iranian Center for Legal and Economic Cooperation" (Iran); Abdullah Zeren, CEO of Aves International (Turkey); Walid Fargal, CEO of AIM Congress (UAE); Gamal Al-Ghor, head of the investment committee of the Cairo Chamber of Commerce and CEO of Los Amigos Trading (Egypt); and Irina Yemchenko, director of international development at GEROФARM.
